Such an appeal for citizens comes after the MPJD confirmed the arrest of Kosovo Republic citizen Haziri (Arif) Haziri, by Serbia's authorities on September 8, 2025, at the border checkpoint in Merdar, during his entry into Serbian private-car territory.
“At this stage, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspore calls on all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo to avoid travel through Serbia's territory, with the goal of ensuring their security and well-being. The MPJD also underlines the urgent need for response on the part of the International Community to the expectations practices of Serbian authorities, which conflict with fundamental principles of international law and international human rights conventions”, the report says.
The MPJD further stresses that increasing cases of bans and abuses of citizens of the Republic of Kosovo by Serbian authorities constitutes violations of the spirit of dialogue and of agreements signed between the two sides. /Periscopi
