Marta Kos: We are waiting for the formation of new government to engage more with Kosovo for dialogue

In an interview for the Balkan Radio Service Free Europe, Kos reiterated the European bloc's stance that normalising the reports is a condition for Kosovo and Serbia on their path towards membership in the European Union.
And we're working on this, especially with our high representative, Kaya Kallas. We are constantly committed to Serbia on this issue, while with Kosovo less recent months, because we are still waiting for the formation of a new government. But this remains one of the priorities in the entire process of the six of the Western Balkans”, Kos said.
Kosovo and Serbia hold dialogue under Brussels' mediation since 2011. The process started at the technical level and then the parties engaged in dialogue on the political level.
During the process, the parties have reached a series of agreements, but not all have been implemented on the ground.
Since the elections held in February, Kosovo has not yet formed a new executive. Even during this period, when Kosovo is being led by a government in office, talks at the level of chief negotiators have been held in Brussels. The last was held on September 11th a meeting that did not produce any results.
Unlike meetings between top negotiators, Kosovo and Serbia have not developed political dialogue since September 2023. The latest course of political dialogue took place just days before the armed attack on Zvecan Banjska, when a Kosovo policeman was killed.
Kosovo blames Serbia for the attack, but Belgrade denies it has a finger on it.
EU High Representative Kaya Kallas, after taking office at the helm of European diplomacy earlier this year, told Radio Free Europe that the dialogue process has stalled and that the EU is considering other means for normalisation.
Later, she declared that Brussels is analyzing the mistakes made in the process. / REL/
