Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has indicated she will engage with former US President Donald Trump's administration to preserve and protect the alliance between the two countries.
Osmani has said he had a telephone conversation with Brendan Hanrahan, senior official of the US State Department for European and Eurasian Affairs, where he discussed the importance of maintaining Kosovo's co-operation and co-ordination between the two countries.
The strong alliance with the US has always been in behalf of our people, national security, regional stability and Euro-Atlantic integration. As president of my country, I will commit to preserving and defending this trust-based alliance and bilateral co-operation”, Osmani wrote in platform X.
Meanwhile, on 12 September, the United States suspended strategic dialogue with Kosovo indefinitely.
In a report by the American Embassy in Kosovo, this decision reportedly came due to the actions of Prime Minister Albin Kurti's incumbent government, which according to the US “raised tensions and instability, limiting the United States' ability to work productively with Kosovo on joint priorities”.
