Kosovo Telecom, which is owned by the government, has granted 200 thousand euros for marketing six televisions close to VV.

Televisions like KTV, Tv1, RTK, ATV and RTV Duagjini have benefited money through marketing contracts with Kosovo Telekom, follows Periscope.

Telekom, controlled by Kurti Government, allocated 200 thousand euros for nearby media

Kosovo's own Telekom through a public response has confirmed this.

Kosovo's telecom has come up with a response, making some comparisons from past governments.

For one thing, we want to stress that the interpretation of data taken from the portal in question has been unprofessional, sensational and unilateral, not based on actual data.

It does not reflect at all the transparent and professional way Kosovo Telecom has acted in contracting advertising spaces. Comparisons made to previous practices, when advertising in huge sums was distributed without clear criteria, on newly opened portals or related to party interests or interest groups, are unfounded and unacceptable”.

The response goes on, confirming the distribution of 200 thousand euros for marketing, but arguing that expenditures have been reduced based on past governments.

“Rics: • Marketing costs from Kosovo Telecom have been reduced to minimum and managed according to the approved strategy.

• The Kosovo telecom is a public company that operates in competitive terms, and advertising of products and services is necessary.

• By the period of five, 2015,2019, Telekom had spent over $13 million on marketing. A considerable portion of them were channeled into media unknown to the public, often without measurable efficiency.

• In the next five-year period, 20202024, Telekom has spent an estimated 700,000,000 total marketing.

• Under the revised marketing strategy, advertising is mainly oriented in media/social networks (Facebook, Instagram etc.), as well as in all national coverage televisions.

• National television agreements have been signed with 6 of the 9 television televisions with national coverage, the total annual value of which is conducted around 200,000.00. The division of this amount among these media has been done by taking to base the measurement of visibility on the Kosovo Telekom platform and the prices offered by these televisions.

• Telekom operates on television platforms under TV Vala and contracts advertising spaces only on television broadcast on OTT and IPTV TV Vala platforms. The criteria for not signing contracts with other 3 televisions is that these televisions, for no reason, have refused to have their content transmitted to the platform of Telekom. This election is based on the possibility of professional measurement and accurate monitoring of advertising transmission.

About the role of the media that has distributed this report: We note with concern that the media that have distributed this report, without verification of facts, are simultaneously victims and colporteurs of a biased journalistic veric, comparing the unmatched. In this case, the normal marketing expenses of a public enterprise based on measurable and transparent criteria are labeled “tage”, ignoring the fundamental difference with previous practices.

Kosovo's Telekom has not made any selection that could be labeled subjective, but has precisely respected the criteria highlighted above.

• Kosovo Telecom, as a public company, bears full responsibility to the public for managing public money. In this context, no advertising spaces are purchased that are broadcast only on competitive platforms, not on TV Vala.

Kosovo's Telekom laments several media efforts to build a false juncture about marketing spending, claiming “the favourability of the media close to the government”. This claim does not stand and is unfounded in facts”.

Otherwise, on December 2, 2024, Telekom had signed four contracts with several advertising televisions, reports Periscope.

The Tvjet1 media has signed contracts with Kosovo Telecom worth over 49 thousand euros -- ATV worth over 19 thousand euros -- Duguagini TV over 34 thousand euros, while KTV over 17 thousand euros.
