After diagnostic research on the ground and implementation of measures to control the disease, the Food and Veterinary Laboratory has confirmed a case with PPR on a sheep farm in this village.
This disease is not zoonotic, which means it's not a threat to human health and it's not transmitted from animal to human. However, it causes major damage to animal health, increases mortality, and has a serious impact on the livestock economy.
The measures the Food and Veterinary Agency has taken to prevent the spread of PR are: continued control and supervision in the affected area, the annihilation of affected animals, the restriction of moving animals to other areas, as well as announcements and co-operation with local farmers.
The Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV) calls for farmers and citizens to have close co-operation with the veterinary services. The moment clinical signs such as high temperatures, nose leaks, diarrhea, pneumonia, or constant coughing are identified, they must report immediately to competent organs.
For farmers: Respect the measures and instructions of official inspectors and veterinarians. Do not buy animals from other farms without knowing their health status.
Only through mutual cooperation can we prevent the spread of this disease and protect our livestock.
