Kosovo Post, via Philatelia for World River Day, issued today the new display of postage stamps “
According to the Kosovo Post's announcement, this issue comes from finding and describing four new types of cosmic water pests, until it adds that for Kosovo's territory this discovery represents a particular achievement in the field of natural science and biodiversity conservation.
This discovery is the result of a dedicated team work of entomology researchers, who, through combination of field research and laboratory analysis, have come to identify these rare and very important organisms. In addition to their scientific value, these findings also represent a call for increased awareness of the protection of fragile water ecosystems in Kosovo”, said the report.
Below, find the Kosovo Post's description of the discovery of four new types of vatical insects:
Rhyacophilasiparatum é was discovered in 2021 at a creek in the village of Boga Peja. This species has an important role in water cleaning, dating back to the risk of extinction because of degradation in infrastructure construction. The name is related to Peja's old appointment.
Tinodes River White was discovered at a branch of the Decani River in 2025. Only a few individuals have been found, the result of serious river pollution. His name is directly related to the river he has been identified with, highlighting his ecological role.
Drussus Dardanicus ʹ was discovered in 2015 at the Platzica of Podujevo and later at several branches of the Llap River. This species is threatened by forest cutting and degradation of stem areas. The name comes from the ancient city “Municium Dardanicium”, while its main function is to maintain the purity of water resources.
Potamhylax Kosovaensis é was discovered in the Bigora area in 2025. The low number testifies to the many environmental pressures in that area. His name refers to Kosovo, directly connecting it to the location it was found.
Kosovo's “Post, through postage stamps, supports the protection of the wandering wildlife and simultaneously promotes the assets of the Republic of Kosovo in the world. We invite collectors, institutions, businesses and citizens to enrich their collection with this particular philatelic show”./Periscope.
