The council has stressed that the media should show empathy and restraint, cover the victims' identity, and avoid publishing photos, videos or materials that may be sensitive or harmful to family members and the public. The exception is only when there is clear public interest in victims or missing persons.
Also, journalists must show caution with photos and images from the site, warn of sensitive content and avoid sensational reporting. The council has called for media to respect the right of people to mourn privately and not expose the emotional state of relatives or vulnerable categories of society.
“Not everything published by authorities or other sources should be taken as good; journalists should be careful what they offer the public,” said in the Council's statement. /Periscope/
