Kirk's murder suspect charged with serious murder, in danger of being sentenced to death

Prosecutors in Utah, United States, have filed charges Tuesday of grave murder against Tyler Robinson, who is accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk at a Utah university. That means Robinson could face the death penalty if convicted of killing Kirk last week. [...]
That means Robinson could face the death penalty if convicted of killing Kirk last week at Valley University in Orem.
The murder of Charlie Kirk is American tragedy”, the district prosecutor in Utah, Jeff Gray, said, declaring the indictment against Robinson.
He said Robinson's DNA was found on the trigger of the weapon used to kill Kirk.
Kirk was shot dead on September 10th while he was talking to the students and died shortly later. Prosecutors claim Robinson shot Kirk in the neck with a rifle from the roof of a building near the university campus.
The Act charges Robinson, 22-year-olds, also with illegal firing of a firearm, which is sentenced to life imprisonment, and for obstructing justice, which is sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Robinson is expected to appear before the tribunal at a virtual session Tuesday afternoon, with local time in the US.
It is not clear whether Robinson has lawyers who can speak in his name, while his family has refused to comment on the Associated Press.
Robinson was arrested Thursday evening near St. George, the community south of Utah where it grew up.
Investigators have spoken to Robinson's relatives and have conducted a search at his family's home in Washington, Utah, about 300 miles [390 km] from where the murder occurred.
Kirk, an important figure in conservative politics, became close to American President Donald Trump after establishing the Arizona-based Tourism Point USA organisation, one of the largest political organisations in the country.
He brought conservative young evangelists into politics. His murder sparked fears of increasing political violence in a deeply polarised America.
While authorities say Robinson has not collaborated with investigators, they claim his family and friends have spoken.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox said over the weekend that those who knew Robinson say in recent years he has pointed to leftist politics and that he spent a lot of time in the dark <x0 angles of the internet”.
Before the attack, Robinson wrote on paper that he had the opportunity to eliminate Kirk and that he would, according to Patel.
Investigators are working to find the motive for the attack, Utah's governor said on Sunday, adding that more data can be disclosed when Robinson submits for the first trial session.
Cox said Robinson's romantic partner was transgiar, which some politicians have taken as a sign that the suspect had targeted Kirk because of his stances against transgender persons.
But authorities have not declared whether this has played a role.
Kirk was shot while accepting a question related to gun killings, gun violence, and transgenerial persons.
Utah Public Security Department Commissioner Beau Mason said on Monday that Robinson's partner has been co-operative. He said investigators believe Robinson acted alone during the attack, but is also being investigated if anyone else knew of his plans in advance. / REL/ Periscopi/
