Kirk, cofounder of the youth organisation Turning Point USA and a popular conservative figure, was shot as he spoke of gun violence at an activity in Utah campus.
Trump described Kirk's death as a dark “moment for America” in a speech at the Oval Office and blamed the radical “on several cases of political violence during the past year, including the assassination of his life and the murder of United Healthcar executive director Brian Thompson.
My administration will find each of those who contributed to this cruelty and other political violence”, Trump said.
He added that radical left rhetoric has compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to the Nazis and the worst mass killers in the world, calling this a direct cause of terrorism occurring today in the country.
Police intensified the investigation for the murder author Thursday, conducting door-to-door searches. Two suspects were arrested and later released, while FBI Director Kash Patel announced that a detainee was released after proven no connection to the shooting.
