Three people have been killed and at least eight others have been injured after a person opened fire Saturday evening from a ship to a crowd that had gathered at a waterfront bar in a coastal town of North Carolina, the American authorities said.
The shooting occurred about 9:30 local time, near a number of frequent bars and restaurants in Southport, located 40 miles [48 km] south of Wilmington.
Investigators said the alleged attacker was on a small ship off the coast and suddenly stopped and rushed towards the crowd and then fled.
About half an hour later, the American Coast Guard found the suspect and was arrested.
US authorities have not discovered the suspect's identity and also failed to show the motives of the case.
Investigators from several agencies including the State Bureau of Investigation and the Coast Guard Sunday continued to collect evidence at the scene and interviewed witnesses.
The American authorities have not made public the identities of the victims, nor have they provided information on the state of health of the innocent. / REL/ Periscopi/
