European Union Foreign Policy chief Kaya Kallas has reacted sharply following reports of another violation of Estonia's airspace by Russian combat aircraft.
In a statement published on the X platform, Kallas described the incident as an extremely dangerous “approval”, stressing that this is the third time in a few days such an EU airspace violation occurs.
Estonia's modern-day air space breach by Russian military aircraft is an extremely dangerous provocation. This is the third such violation of the EU airspace in a few days and further escalates tensions in the region,” writes Kallas.
She added that the European Union remains fully solidarity with Estonia and that it is in close contact with the government of this Baltic country.
We will continue to support our member states in strengthening their defence with European sources. Putin is testing the commitment of the West. We don't have to show weakness,” that's over.
Tensions at the EU's eastern borders have increased significantly in recent months, while security incidents in airspace and sea space have become increasingly frequent.
