Ismaili said the current government has covered Pristina with unplanned and unregulated construction, neglecting community life.
As a first step towards resolving this problem, he promised the complete suspension of all new construction permits during the first six months of his mandate.
No new permission will be given until we make a full review of the regulatory plans, set clear standards for public spaces and greens, and make sure that each future project contains the necessary social infrastructure,” said Ismaili.
Its plan also includes planting 100 thousand trees, creating parks in every neighbourhood no further than 300m from each house, turning 10 untapped public parcels into mini-pars and community gardens.
An Assembly candidate, urbanist Andrew Mecini, who criticised the current government for allowing for uncontrollized and standard construction:
Beton is killing the community. Replacing green concrete spaces affects not only the city's appearance but also the quality of urban life. Common life in the neighborhood is disappearing, and with it the feeling of the city caring for its own. The results are clear: alarming levels of air pollution, rising temperatures, as well as increased social isolation among citizens. ”
Mecin pointed out that for these very reasons he has joined Ismaili Bridge:
Because all these years, he has been the only one who has shown seriousness in access to urban planning, by engaging professionals and offering real solutions, to turn Pristina from a concrete city to a community city. ”
According to him, Ismaili's project is the only serious vision that turns public spaces into community and sets European standards of urban planning.
