Kosovo is continuing to deepen dependence on imported goods, bringing the trade deficit to a high level of concern. Our state has imported goods worth over five billion euros, only from January until late September of this year.
Import value in Kosovo has increased by about half a billion euros in the January-September period of this year, compared to the same period last year.
Along with the import worth 5 billion euros, during the ninth month of 2025, the amount of imported goods has risen to about 350 million pounds compared with the same period in 2024. The total amount of goods for this period remains lower than their value.
As for the amount of imported goods, in this period of 2025, Kosovo imported goods over 4.2 billion pounds, 3.9 billion pounds during the same 2024, 3.7 billionkg in January hove September 2023 and 3.5 billionkg of goods in January-September 2022.
In addition, the other challenge for our country is that of lowering the level of value of exported goods. According to Kosovo Customs data, the export value has marked a decline of about 30m euros during the ninth month of 2025, compared to the same period last year.
Kosovo Customs suggests that over 630m euros is the value of goods exported from Kosovo from January to late September of this year, compared to 658m euros in the same period last year. Thus, the trade deficit has reached over 4.4 billion euros this time of year, over 3.9 billion in the same 2024 period.
Meanwhile, Germany, Turkey, China, Albania and Italy are among the main importing states in the first period of 2025.
Increasing the value of imported goods and declining the value of those exported are considered disturbing by Kosovo's Economic Oda (OEK) and the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( BITIC). /KP//Periscopi/
