At this ceremony, Kosovo Police General Director Gazmend Hoxha urged citizens to stay away from illegal weapons until he said many people have lost their lives.
The destruction of small and medium weapons is done in order to create more security for our citizens and our country. Illegal weapons are a danger to our society, are a danger to our families. They don't create security, they create more uncertainty. Over the years, we have had few cases of illegal weapons being used in criminal cases, and many lives have also been lost by illegal weapons. So we urge all our citizens to stay away from illegal weapons”, Hoxha said.
On the other hand, the director of police said that by 1999, about 36 thousand and 36 weapons have been seized, as well as a large number of ammunition.
Until he added that more than 150,000 short and long arms have been destroyed since 2005.
