In an interview for Radio Free Europe, he was asked about Prime Minister Albin Kurti's request that Radojic's extradition be a condition for continuing dialogue with Serbia.
I think it's very important that Milan Radoicovic and the other perpetrators of the Banjska attack be brought to justice as soon as possible,” said Hargrees.
Asked where this should happen, he said the initial responsibility falls on Belgrade authorities.
I think that initially it's a matter for Serbian authorities, and we, in a stable and orderly manner, talk with Serbian authorities about it. I don't want to get into what happens next, because I think, first of all, it's a matter of the Serbian judicial system to deal with this. But that is truly important. We cannot continue with impunity for that terrible attack, and there must be actions against Mr. Radojicic and his colleagues,” he said.
However, Hargreaves did not comment on whether Kurt's request should be formal condition for dialogue.
I wasn't referring to whether or not it should be a condition for dialogue. I think it's a process that needs to happen. Also, I think the sooner Kosovo and Serbia return to the right path, with a constructive dialogue between them, the better it will be for the people of Kosovo,”, he said.
