Haradinaj: For waiting on Thaci and others, we have Croatia's Gotovina case

One of the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army Veterans Organisation, Nasim Haradinaj, has said he expects those indicted by the Special Court for War Crimes to be released and for their manner of waiting cited Croatia's case against Ante Gotovina. About the court ruling in the case against former superiors [...]
For the court's ruling on the case against former KLA prosecutors for the December 22nd appointment of 22nd as the date when the parties must hand over their final files, Haradinaj called it a preliminary deadline.
According to him, the Special's decision to punish Thaci or not can take until May.
Haradinaj in KTV said he expects them to be released, and for their manner of waiting he cited Croatia's case against Ante Gotovina, broadcasts Periscope.
The wait will depend on how we react as a people. First the government, the second competent people we are here and the third as a whole as a people how we react. If we give a signal, we have Gotovina's case that Croatia has given. My expectations, although I doubt that court, should be positive, total release. If all witnesses are seen up to today, they are on some good evidence, evidence seen as elaborate, evidence that is seen as being promoted and corrupt, in relation to evidence now being heard by Wesley Clark, Tony Blair, and world famous personalities and charges must be dropped. So I expect a release of former KLA leaders. A victory for Kosovo”, Haradinaj said.
Haradinaj also indicated that they are preparing for further protests, which he said should be incompatible and European-typed.
Ante Gotovina, who was mentioned by Haradinaj, is known for his role during Croatia's Independence War in the years of 1990s, was one of Croatia's most important military commanders and one of Croatia's top organisers: Operation “ (Stuhya) August 1995, considered the Croatian Army's major offensive to regain territories occupied by Serbs. The operation ended successfully but was accompanied with war crimes charges against Gotovina. He spent several years on the run as he was arrested in Spain in 2005 after being sought by The Hague Tribunal. In 2011 he was sentenced to 24 years in prison, and a year later he was acquitted and released.
After returning to Croatia, he was hosted as a national hero and always out of politics.
However, since the proclamation of condemnation, many massive protests were organised by Croatian citizens for his release. Also, the Croatian government and many politicians considered his sentence unjust.
Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, former Speakers of the Parliament, Kadri Veselin and Jakup Krasniqi, as well as former delegation Rexhep Selimi are in a trial process at Kosovo's Specialised Chambers in The Hague.
