Germany's Defence Minister has warned that his country's satellites are being monitored by Russian satellites.
Boris Pistorius cited concerns about two satellites “Luch/Olymp” that monitors satellites “Intelsat” used by German forces and others.
He told a conference in Berlin: “Russia and China have rapidly expanded their capabilities for war in space in recent years.
“They can shut down satellite operations, break down satellites, manipulate or destroy essentially”.
The two Russian satellites, launched in 2014 and 2023, are said to be standing in space and tracking satellites close to other states.
“Intelsat” operates more than 50 satellites used by private companies, as well as government agencies.
French space Startup “Aldoria” said it observed a Russian satellite performing an unexpected “afration” against another in May 2024, writes Skynews
