French President Emmanuel Macron has indicated that France will follow suit Monday, as he prepares to host a meeting with Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman on the difficult solution of two states Palestinian and Israeli co-existence.
“They want a nation, want a state and we should not push towards Hamas”, Macro said on Sunday's “Face the Nation” of CBS News, adding that the move would help isolate the armed group.
He also said he would make the release of hostages taken by Hamas on October 7th 2023, a precondition for opening an embassy in the Palestinian state, writes Foreign media.
More than 140 world leaders are reportedly due to land in New York this week for the annual United Nations General Assembly summit, which will be dominated by the Palestinian future issue.
A global leader to be missed at the meeting is Mahmud Abbas, whose Palestinian president Washington rejected the visa to participate, along with his officials.
This prompted reproof from the General Assembly (AS), which will be the focus of world leaders' speeches.
The AS voted 145 pro and five against to miraculously allow Abbas to speak through video connection.
It becomes known that the humanitarian disaster that is destroying the small Palestinian territory will be at the top of the agenda, two years after the start of the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip, which was triggered by Hamas' unprecedented attack on October 7, 2023.
