Erion Veliaj's dismissal, municipal council law commission, debate between majority and opposition

By 10:00, the meeting of the Law Commission in Tirana, where it is set to introduce the demands of Socialist advisers for the dismissal of Erion Veliaj from the mayoral post, has begun. The meeting is expected to give procedural consideration to Veliaj's dismissal, while this meeting precedes [...] meeting.
At the meeting, requirements for Veliaj's dismissal are expected to be considered proceduralally, while this meeting precedes the council's meeting at 4: 00 p.m. At 3: 00 a.m., the mayoral council meets, the agenda is discussed.
The meeting is being accompanied by debates between left and right members. The latter are for dismissal, but they request Veliaj to attend the meetings.
Left-wing members delegate this decision to the Council. Fabian Topalliaj, Dorian Teliti, Ilda Joulali and Genc Gjokutaj insist Veliaj be at the meeting.
Veliaj, who has been arrested since February, demanded that he attend the Tirana municipal council meeting, where he will be voted for his dismissal.
In the letter addressed to Erion Veliaj, the Council reacted that in case of unable to attend the meetings, then the observations to be conveyed in writing to the municipal council.
Veliaj has clarified in his request that the absence for more than three months is not due to his will but as a result of a security measure that will challenge him in all judicial instances. So he wants to be heard at the meeting before the council votes for his dismissal.
The decision will pave the way for early elections in Tirana, but is expected to be rejected by Veliaj, but the SP has already chosen the Socialist candidate to compete for Tirana's municipality. It is Ogerta Manastirlu, whose name became known during the SP assembly on September 11th. / TCh/
