Turkey's leader, Recep Tayip Erdogan, found he has spoken with both Vladimir Putin and Volodyr Zelensky for peace talks.
He said that the two leaders “are not yet ready” for a “face-to-face meeting”.
Erdogan He said he discussed ways to end the war with Putin yesterday in Beijing and that he spoke on the phone with Ukrainian President Zelensky.
Turkey favours “the gradual upgrade of the negotiation level” to turn hopes for peace into concrete results, the Turkish leader said.
His comments diminish the possibility of a meeting between leaders, which was proposed after Putin's meeting with Donald Trump in Alaska.
Turkey has been named one of the possible countries for bilateral talks between Russia and Ukraine.
