In a Serbian-language media interview, Prattipati has stressed that “when you are not on the table, others make decisions for you”, calling on the Serb community to take responsibility in building a more stable and prosperous Kosovo, follows Periscope.
Almost a year after Ambassador Geoffrey Hovenier left, Prattipati is the first official to head the American Embassy in Kosovo.
“The US has proudly supported Kosovo's path towards becoming a sovereign, democratic, multiethnic and prosperous country. But we are concerned about the actions of the provisional government and the movements that have increased tensions, especially in relation to the treatment of Serbs,” said Prattipati.
“We expect the Government to ensure equal opportunities for Serbs and secure their full participation in Kosovo's political and civic life,” she added.
As for Serb parallel institutions in education and health, Prattipati said they should be integrated into the Kosovo system.
We understand the sensitivity related to the education and health of the Serbian community. We have repeatedly expressed against closing institutions without co-ordination with them,” the American diplomat stressed, writes Serbian media, broadcast Telegraph.
