On Wednesday, September 17th, it is scheduled to begin the voting process through mail for all Kosovo citizens, but this will also depend on the moment the voter accepts the package of balloting from the post.
CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi has explained to Kosova Preis that after accepting the ballots, special packages for each voter will be prepared, which will be sent to registered voters.
The “can confirm that ballots for voting outside Kosovo for local elections have already been printed and brought to Kosovo. It's about 44,310 ballot papers in the Municipal Elections and just as many ballot papers that belong to them for the Elections for Municipal Places. The CEC will prepare packages for each registered voter, which will include from two ballot papers -- one for the Municipal Speaker's elections and one for the Municipal Assembly Elections. According to the CEC regulation, it will ensure that these packages are mailed to voters registered for voting outside Kosovo. Meanwhile, it is up to each of them to send the package of ballot papers to one of the CEC mailboxes that are opened in different states by the CEC”, Elez explained.
According to Elez, the deadline for voting abroad is 25 days and will be worth about 43,933 Kosovo citizens who have become part of the election process.
“The period of voting through mail applies only to voters outside Kosovo who have registered for voting via mail in the 23 July period and has been closed by August 29th 2025. Under the deadline set by the CEC, there are 25 days available to enable the vote through mail, which will begin on 17 September and complete on 11 October. Under the general election law, in local elections we will have only vote through mail because the vote on diplomatic representation does not apply to these types of elections”, Elezi has said.
According to the CEC, mail boxes addresses that will be opened in various states will soon be published.
Also, according to explanations from the CEC, Kosovo citizens, who are registered to vote from outside Kosovo, leave the List of Voters within Kosovo, which is distributed at the polls on Election Day and therefore cannot vote in Kosovo.
Meanwhile, citizens who are not registered to vote from outside Kosovo will find their name on the Voters' List within Kosovo. /Periscope/
