According to the New York Times, Deputy Prosecutor General Todd Blanche has ordered six offices of federal prosecutors in California, New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Detroit and Maryland to verify charges against the foundation's branch.
The claims include supporting terrorism, financial fraud and extortion, based largely on a report by the conservative organisation Capital Research Center.
This report states that the foundation has distributed over $80m to suspected groups with links to violence and terrorism, including the Palestinian organisation al-Haq, declared in 2022 by Israel as coverage of terrorist activities.
In his response, the “Foundation Open Society” has flatly denied the accusations, labeling them politically motivated and a threat to freedom of speech. “When power is used to hit some, at risk are all rights,” is said in the statement.
Trump has often been critical of Soros, which he accuses of financing “political process” and for supporting his opponents, repeatedly seeking his investigation and punishment. /Periscope/
