Kosovo police have announced that in recent days citizens' complaints and businesses reporting cases of fraud on behalf of financial assistance to third persons have increased.
According to the announcement, unknown persons contact citizens through calls on apps such as Viber and Whatsapp, using numbers from neighbouring states like Bosnia and Herzegovina or Montenegro, and require financial means to be sent through services like Western Union and MoneyGram.
Police suggest that later victims realise that money is not used for aid purposes, but for personal benefits of suspected individuals.
“Based under these circumstances, an appeal is made to citizens and businesses to show increased caution to such demands, as the investigations thus far have found that it is for fraud schemes with personal advantage.”, the report says. /Periscopi
