Rubin has been called a witness from Hashim Thaci's defence, and is the first defence witness.
Yesterday, Rubin declared that when they went to meet at the Rambouillet Conference, Hashim Thaci did not recognise him, but had asked Madeleine Albright to get acquainted and stay with him. He said he had the impression that Thaci almost wept at the meeting with Albright when he was asked from that latter to sign an agreement that essentially did not have Kosovo's independence.
He claimed Thaci had said he could not sign any documents that did not mean “independence”, because he could be considered a person who gave up the country's independence.
During his stay in Rambouille when work was done for the signing of the agreement, he said Hashim Thaci explained there was no leading but political role. He claimed he had no authority to decide anything but only reflected the decisions made in Kosovo.
According to him, Thaci had the authority to make decisions for the KLA. For the latter, he said there were no organised units for someone to have authority to dictate. /Periscope/
