US and China mostly own Bitcoin
The US and China are the two countries most owned by Bitcoin, since July 31st 2025.

According to the Investopedia, the FBI confiscated over 144 thousand BTC from Silk Road in 2013. Its founder, Ross Ulbricht, was sentenced to life imprisonment but was pardoned by American President Donald Trump in January 2025.

Ukraine and North Korea also maintain considerable reserves of BTC, reportedly linked to cyber activity and property seizures.
Butan also stands out as a surprising player, with over 11,000 BTCs linked to his secret operations of hydropower mining.
