The Irish presidency is a largely symbolic seven-year-old post, but McGregor had pledged to curb immigration in order to support “Irish culture” and give power “back to the people”.
He had hoped to exploit his followers in the social media, including 10.7 million followers on X ʹ and the support of Elon Musk and Donald Trump to join the ballot sheet for the October 24th elections.
