Conference of the Adriatic Charter in Tirana, American General: Albania, true leadership in the region

Tirana hosted today the 28th Conference of Chiefs of General Staff of the Adriatic Charter (SHBA-A5).
The conference was co-chaired by Albania's Chief of General Staff, Arben Kiggi, Chief of the Army Staff of Bosnia and Herzegovina Gojko Knezevic and Commander of American Command in Europe General Alexus G. Grinkewich.
In his address, General Grinkewich said Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania have shown true leadership in the region, the ATSH writes.
He called on the two countries to continue and show commitment to further security and stability from which all benefit.
Grinkewich said further than “The US-Folder of Adriatic is an irreplaceable forum to continue strategic dialogue towards a free, secure and prosperous Europe”.
The stable relations created through the State Partnership Programme are vital to European security”, he said.
Halted at the signing of the joint declaration during the conference, Grinkewich said this “document reaffirms our commitment to a common vision for Southeast Europe and stresses the importance of narrow co-ordination for regional security”.
During his speech the American general said that “should work together so defence spending can be transformed into true capabilities”.
“While our nations increase defence spending and take big steps in military modernisation, we have to work together to ensure that these investments can be transformed into real skills”, ao stressed.
This requires continued focus on improving interoperability, building readiness and developing supporting agreements. After listening to all the optimistic discussions today, I am convinced that we can achieve these goals”, Grinkewich said.
The American general said the implementation working group has a rigorous work programme for next year to ensure that we meet tomorrow's requirements.
“You can address your colleagues, your allies and partners with the US Adriatic Charter, and together we will embrace a secure, stable and prosperous future”, he said.. /Periscopi/
