O High Commissioner The SEU for National Minorities, Christophe Camp, visited Kosovo from 25 August to 29 August 2025, where he met with authorities in Pristina, reports O SBE.
In addition, it becomes known that it “also met with representatives of non-party communities, religious leaders and civil society organisations, as well as members of the international community”.
The High Commissioner visited Pristina, Gjilan, Partesh, North Mitrovica and Gracanica. Among other things, he met with President Vjosa Osmani, Prime Minister of Task Albin Kurti, Minister of the Commission of Communities and Return Nenad Racic, Interior Affairs Minister Jelal Svecla and Kosovo Police Director Gazmend Hoxha. He heard from political parties and civil society organisations representing non-most communities and had an exchange of views with Bishop Teodosije. He also met with senior officials from the European Union Law Rule Mission, the Kosovo Force and the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo” is said further in the statement.
O The SEU says Camp had the opportunity to gain direct knowledge of issues related to its mandate on the situation of non-most communities in Kosovo, including their participation in public life, as well as issues of rule of law and language rights.
“While in northern Kosovo, the High Commissioner was able to focus on dynamics there and their effects on residents of all communities, especially on Kosovo Serbs”, O points out SBE.
“In its commitments, the High Commissioner stressed the need for meaningful dialogue and consultations with non-most communities on issues affecting them and the importance of their effective participation in public life”, the organisation adds.
It also emphasises that the HCNM office has been engaged in Kosovo to implement the linguistic rights framework for several years, and during this visit Camp met with Pristina University Rector to discuss the status of the Balkanistic Programme./Periscopi/
