At the “Democracy Forum under threat: Elections as a geopolitical battlefield” organised by the Octopus Institute, Malaj underlined that the biggest current challenge is the one in the north, where tensions show democracy is threatened.
For this reason, Malaj said that only free, fair and reliable elections will determine Kosovo's path towards strengthening the democratic state, reports the KP, broadcasts Klankosova.tv.
Kosovo in its history has known its word in terms of elections. The elections have had a caution on both the part of governments that have led, but on the other hand, the parties... We have a fragile democracy and we must be in her defense. The elections are actually those that define the direction and guarantee Kosovo's democratic future. What happened in Moldova tells of a positive direction and a very good moment for Europe, where there was a very interesting support... What torments Kosovo at the moment is the challenge in its north. It shows that democracy is at its threat and that free and fair elections are the ones that will determine the way. We've seen, we've heard these days of special moments that can bring frustrations and situations no one would want. Kosovo is in a process that requires protection and dedication of all that it has achieved. The region needs stability”, Malaj said.
