Unconventional results from elections for the mayors and the results for political subjects from the Elections for Municipal Consorts will be broadcast within a few hours if everything goes according to the CEC's planning.
In the Kosovo Parliament elections, which were held on February 9th, the CEC had failed to broadcast the preliminary results of political subjects due to problems presented with the electronic platform of results.
CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi has said of Kosova Prees that local election preparations have also addressed the challenges this institution faced in the recent parliamentary elections.
“In response to the challenges presented in the recent elections, which connect with the process of counting candidates for MPs and their identity through software, local elections for the mayors of the municipalities and for the Municipal Framework, the CEC undertakes the necessary actions to develop new software for preliminary results from the locations, results from the Municipal Counting Centres, and from the Entrance Centre and Resolutions”, Elez said.
Asked what data the CEC will publish on Election Day, Elez said that in addition to preliminary results, at certain times the public will be reported on voter participation in the election.
“According to the Law for General Elections, the count of election ballots for the heads of municipalities and political subsidies should take place at the polls after the voting process is completed. Therefore, the CEC is making preparations for the October 12th to publish the preliminary results of the candidates for the mayors of municipalities and political subjects from elections for the Communist Assembly. Also, during the election day, voter turnout in the elections will be published at specific times, for each municipality detailed for any polling centre and polling Centre”, Elesi said.
Under the Law for General Elections, the counting of votes of candidates for members of the Communist Assembly does not take place at the polls, but at the Municipal Counting Centres. The CEC has set up such a centre for each municipality and will be located mainly in sports gyms.
