The Central Election Commission has announced that it has begun printing the local election ballot papers for mayors and municipal municipalities, which will be held on 12 October.
According to the CEC, ballot printing is under way in the printery of high-security documents, “Cetis”, in Celje, Slovenia.
This process is under international standards, under the supervision of a CEC delegation led by leader Kreshnik Radoniqi, with the participation of members Alban Krasniqi and Muharrem Nitaj, as well as the staff of the CEC Secretariat”, the report said.
This institution also reports that, in addition to balloting, brochures with candidate lists will be printed, which will be available to voters at the polls during election day.
“In the first phase are printing ballots for voting outside Kosovo for 43,993 Kosovo citizens, which, The CEC will make sure it sends it through the mail, meanwhile, to continue printing balloting for the domestic voting process. At the meeting, held on September 7th, the CEC made the decision to print 1,800,410 ballot papers for the first round of elections, as well as 1,800,410 municipal elections. This number includes ballots for regular locations, conditional voting, voting of persons with special needs, reserve ballots, and post-mail voting”, the announcement says.
In this election process, 13% or 268,688 ballots will be printed less than the total number of citizens rightly voted -- which according to the CEC's certified voting list -- is 2,069,098.
According to data from the voting list, the number of citizens eligible to vote in the polls in Kosovo is 2,025,105 voters, meanwhile, the number of citizens registered to vote by post from outside Kosovo is 43,993 voters.
