Canada has become the first member state of the group of developed G7 countries to have officially recognised the Palestinian state on Sunday.
Soon after Canada, Australia and Great Britain have met.
Other countries that have warned recognition of the Palestinian state are also France, Belgium, Portugal and Malta.
The recognition comes a day before the UN General Assembly is held in New York, in which top state leaders will talk about Palestine.
On 22 September, the United Nations will resume the international summit conference for the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and implementation of the solution with Two States, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, reports BBC. Transmitt Periscope.
The conference will reaffirm international commitments to the two-state settlement and will seek to mobilise support for its implementation.
The prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has earlier rejected countries that recognise Palestinian citizenship, saying this “rewards Hamas' terror” and “forcon” “rejection” of the group to release hostages”.
Families of those still held in Gaza have also expressed concern. In an open letter to Starmer, they say recognition “recommends efforts to bring our loved ones home”.
Meanwhile, Israel's ground offensive in Gaza City continues. Only Sunday have at least 30 killed in Israeli attacks. /Periscopi/
