This case recalls the bloody methods of drug trafficking gangs to spread fear in Brussels.
An event not seen in Brussels before.
Last Sunday, a corpse was found hanging on a signalboard in Brussels.
Police went to the scene, accompanied by the prosecution of the Royal Prosecutor of Brussels.
The body of a 29-year-old man was found in Ring, Brussels, near Anderlet,” confirms the prosecution.
According to our information, the victim is of Albanian origin. The prosecution considers death to be suspicious and has opened an investigation. Federal Judiciary Police lab, a legal doctor as well as an investigative judge are engaged.
“Burri was hung on the back of a cable signalboard,” stresses the prosecution, adding that “is still too early to determine the exact circumstances of the” event.
The suicide sample is not disfellowshipped in this phase.
However, it is an act of extreme violence. The body was found near the Westland Shoppinghouse, located not far from the city of Peterbos, a strategic site for drug trafficking in Brussels.
Even if a link has not been proven between Peterbo's gang and the body found hanging, it is another case of violence in a sensitive area of Brussels.
Last June, Nordine, a 49-year-old father, was shot dead in the middle of the day in the PlumekArt store parking lot, not far from the mall.
“Mexican folder method”
If the link to drug trafficking is confirmed in the coming days, this Sunday's incident will shift the capital into an unprecedented context. <x)
These cartels are known for extreme violence and the use of brutal methods of depression against rivals, traitors, or those who do not respect their rules.
Several cases of public addiction have been recorded in Mexico in recent years, in connection with these gangs, including the most popular cartel, the one of Sinaloa, led by Joachim Guzman, known as “El Chapo”.
In 2017, six corpses were found hanging on bridges at the resort in Baja California del Sur.
Experts linked this to the bloody fight between the Sinaloa cartel and the Jalisco Nueva Genración's for controlling drug trafficking.
A context that reminds of Brussels' events for more than a year.
In an interview with Heet Laatste Nieuwsı in late August, Eric Jacobs, director of the Brussels Federal Judicial Police, observed the presence in the capital of Marseille Mafia, the famous “Mocro-Mafia”, Albanian networks and gangs originally from North Africa.
Everyone uses the same methods: threat, purpose, murder,” Eric Jacobs said.
Was this Sunday's victim part of this Mafia world? Was it used as a warning to rivals? The police investigation has to find out.
However, this case is not contrary to the methods used by traffickers in Brussels.
“What we see is just the tip of the iceberg,” reminded the director of the federal judicial police in August. There are many more things in the underworld: threats, intimates... and, yes, torture. We don't have active cases of torture, but we've discovered such cases after decoting confidential communications. These are mafia techniques”.
Several cases have already been reported on the pages of our newspaper.
Two Disturbing Cases
In March 2022, Yacine, who used his apartment in Mahrolles as a drug - trafficking depot, was found disabled on Des Visitandinis Street. The autopsy showed signs of exceptionally severe torture - burning on genital parts, chest, belly, and triceps with austerity iron; anal penterium with objects; bulging face. Cause of torture: Yacine was allegedly stealing an amount of cocaine stored in one of the apartment's vaults. In short, it was a punishment for disobedience.
Another disturbing case: last April, the trial of the clanenceau gang, active in trafficking cannabis and cocaine, highlighted traffickers' punitive techniques. Investigators found in the phones of video indictees showing a “gratws” (person without documents used for drug distribution on the street) being beaten: wrapped up in the cellopan, hit in the head with the shoulder of a revolution.
Whether it has anything to do with fighting territories among traffickers or not, last Sunday's incident shows once again the escalation of violence that Brussels has been experiencing for more than a year. Since the beginning of the year, the capital has been the scene of at least 57 shootings, according to recent statistics in August, writes Voxnews.al, broadcasts Periscope
