Avni Lajqi sentenced to 5 years in prison for preparing a murder, Brahim Berisha fines 500 euros for arms without permission

Indictee Avni Lajqi has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for preparing for the murder of the injured Musa Demaj (Loshi), while without permission he received 2,500 euros in fines. The sentence will also account for the time he has spent in custody.

For Brahim Berisha, the prosecutor has withdrawn from the indictment for preparing for the criminal act, refusing it, and has only been convicted of illegal weapons of 500 euros in fines.

The indictment was announced at the Constitutional Court in Pristina on Friday by Judge Vesel Ismaili, reports “The Justice Act”.

Brahim Berisha had reached agreement on admitting guilt over charges charged.

According to the SPRK indictment of the date 22,01.2025, Avni Lajqi and Brahim Berisha have acted on the recommendation of defendant Egzon Hasangekaj. Because of earlier disagreement in America in 2021, defendants Egzon Hasangekaj and injured Musa Demaj (Loshi) have prepared the murder of injured Musa Demaj (Loshi).

According to the indictment, accused Avni Lajqi, with the aim of profiting the amount of 100,000 euros, has reached agreement with accused Brahim Berisha that, in exchange for the amount of 70,000 euros, he would deprive the injured Musa Demaj (Loshi) of life. Brahim Berisha has agreed to participate in this criminal offence and has been instructed by Avni Lajqi for the way, time, country and way of doing the work.

Also, accused Avni has claimed responsibility that if defendant Egzon does not charge for the offense, he will pay for it on his own. They had also secured a weapon for the murder of the injured Moses Demay. In 20,02.2024, the weapon, which was scheduled to be used on the critical day, was seized by Kosovo Police. Unable to deprive the life of M.D.'s injury, accused Egzon has demanded that Musa's brother, Ironian, be deprived of life or, if both were found, killed.

By this, they are charged with having committed criminal work in co-ordination “preparing the murder and murder of Rand”, according to Article 173 par.1 subpar. 1.6 to the subheading. 1.33, regarding Article 27 par.2, in the form of co-operation, and the agreement to conduct criminal work by Article 35 par.1 concerning Article 31 of the Republic of Kosovo's Criminal Code.

On the other hand, according to the indictment, accused Avni Lajqi, in 28.03.2024, owned a bullet in his house without the permission of the competent body and possessed various weapons contrary to the law on weapons. With this, he is accused of committing criminal work “retaining ownership, control or possession without authorization of weapons” by Article 366 par.1 of the Republic of Kosovo Criminal Code.

Also, accused Brahim Berisha in his house has owned automatic weapons with two rounds and 20 rounds, without the permission of the competent body and contrary to the law on weapons. He is charged with the same criminal offence, according to Article 366 par.1 of the Republic of Kosovo's Criminal Code, reports Betimi per Justice, broadcasting Periscope
