In a public response, AGK describes the president's rhetoric as “extremely irresponsible for the post that holds” and warns that it “directly jeopardises the physical security of journalists”, news reports.
“The AGK strongly condemns President Osmani's accusation and promotional rhetoric during the press conference, as it directly jeopardises the physical security of journalists”, the association statement said.
President Osmani, during the conference, has again referred to reports by the Kosovo Agency for Intelligence (AKI), stressing that they contain data related to possible co-operation between “some journalists” and people close to Milan Radoichi, involved in illegal and dangerous activities for the country's security.
The AGK warns that these statements create judicial uncertainty, not only for journalists, but also for citizens in general.
“Osman has again been referring to AKI reports to strengthen accusations about some journalists, which AGK thinks question the legal security, not only of journalists, but also of each Kosovo citizen”, says in response.
The organisation representing journalists in Kosovo has called on security institutions to publicly clarify the basis of these claims, naming them as a form of open optimism to journalists' work and attempts to stop questions in public interest.
“The AGK invites security bodies to be declared on such serious charges, which serve as open investigation against journalists”, is further said.
