Over 600,000 euros earmarked for book subsidy were given to parents who had failed to meet the criteria. And that's because there was no control measure. According to experts, this money was even given to parents living abroad and students who learn in the Serb parallel system.
For the past three years, the Ministry led by Arberie Nagavci has decided to subsidise parents for buying textbooks.
But these instruments, separated by August, have been misused by some of their parents during the year 2024.
According to the National Audition Office report, it turns out that over 600,000 euros have been granted as subsidies or have applied citizens who have not met the criteria for their children.
And according to former Deputy Education Minister Dukagjin Popovci, this amount is even higher.
“actually, these 60 thousand euros have to do with a number of schools after entering all schools, that amount would have turned out much larger. I think measures have been taken this year as schools confirm for everyone whether children are at school or not. Because it has to do with just these situations when the child is not in school, lives or is out of the country or is in the Serb parallel system, and then there is no one behind the verifiate”, Popovci said.
All of this, according to education expert Youth Qehaja, has come from non-version of apps.
“has lacked verification, has been taken well into any applications that have occurred by parents from students for text subsidies. This is fortunately corrected and from this year the verification is done by co-ordinators at each school for each student”, Qehaja said.
Although according to the former deputy minister, the likelihood of misuse of tools for purchasing books still exists.
There are still options for abuses, as people can take books but not buy books, and I believe that the reports of the coming years will show”, Popovci said.
About these abuses, the first day has also reacted to the Ministry of Education, saying these isolated cases of last year have already been addressed and handled by relevant organs. /tat1.info
