Vijay, one of the biggest actors in the Thames cinema for three decades, has attracted large crowds to its public gatherings since the founding of his political party, “Tamillaga Vettri Kazhagam” in 2024, writes Skynews, broadcast Periscope.
Indian media reports, citing local officials, said the mess was caused when a group of Vijay supporters and fans collapsed while trying to get closer to his bus.
The images also showed Vijayn throwing bottles of water from the tip of the vehicle towards supporters who were losing consciousness during the rally and seeking help from the police when the crowd became uncontrollable.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in an X post: the unfortunate “Incident during a political rally at Kour, Tamil Nadu, is deeply sad”.
In a post on social networks after the incident, Vijay said he is feeling bad after the incident that took place.
It is not the first time Vijay's gatherings have faced security concerns, with at least six deaths reported after his first political party meeting when it was launched in October last year. /Periscope/
