Why was it a temporary promise by each government that has come to power, the 26th anniversary of the founding of the Kosovo Police found this institution still without health insurance. Its former participants criticise institutions for their unwillingness to fulfill the promises and recall that some Kosovo Police needs remain essential.
Yesterday, Kosovo police celebrated their 26th birthday and received praise and support from every state and citizen figure. But this anniversary found it with unfulfilled promises and lack of a vital benefit for the duty of health insurance.
For years this provision has been promised to its members, but it is still only on paper and public statements. For those once part of this institution, this is disappointing.
“All have promised health insurance, promised to take place, and even early retirement has been promised because the age of 65 is very high. It wasn't done either. The meeting with Albin Kurt was also given that promise, and I can say it was very promising, but neither did this government. It's strange why neither this nor the early pension is happening. We have policemen who are hard working, with various diseases”, declared Shaban Tasholli, former head of the Kosovo Police Union.
The same concern is shared by other former members of this institution, who lack of health insurance as the most discriminated against the Kosovo Police.
The most discriminated issue to Kosovo police is that, beyond the risk they have at work, they don't have health insurance that, if anything happens, they can enjoy it. It is very painful that a policeman who wears his uniform and takes responsibility despite all the equipment available to his mission has no food secure. Salaries are low”, Fehmije Gashi-Bytyqi, former police officer, stressed.
According to her, yesterday's manifestation should serve as a reminder to the future government.
In this manifestation that took place yesterday, it is the crucial moment that institutions that will be constituted, whatever they may be, think of the best institution, offer health security, food, dignified salaries and that police do not care if they can secure the existence of”, she stressed.
