Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, in an interview for Polish television “TVP World” has called on political parties in Kosovo to reach an agreement and establish institutions. Osmani has said political parties must put differences aside and put the country's interest forward.
“E takes advantage of the opportunity to again call on all political parties to put the country's interest forward, and put differences aside. To try to form a coalition of parliamentary majority, which sends Kosovo before”, Osmani has said.
Osmani has said that the cause of this political blockade, European Union projects were losing windows of opportunity to the new US administration, which has been worked on.
The majority of the agreements must go to the Assembly to be ratified and to the Government for implementation. Kosovo's people must have an efficient government with full power”, Osmani said.
She has added that Kosovo does not have the luxury to stay that long without institutions.
“There will be many who say Belgium has been without the government for two years, Austria has six months. I understand, but we don't have the luxury to wait for so long. We should really move forward with reforms, with membership in organisation”, Osmani has said.
It has been saying that it does not believe it has external influence on major political parties in Kosovo, the way they react.
It's their personal trust, who they want to work with. It's very local”, Osman said.
The next election attempt by the Speaker of the Parliament failed Sunday. The February 9th election party, the Vetevendosje Movement, nominated Hekuran Mqira, Arberie Nagavcin and Dimal Basha, but the candidates did not get the necessary votes. The next session will be held Tuesday at 11:00.
In the interview for Poland's state television, Osmani has also voiced criticism of the European Union membership process.
She has said that although Kosovo is listed by a hundred percent with EU policies and that 97 per cent of citizens in Kosovo are pro-EU and NATO membership, this still seems to be taking note of member states.
“If you see how the region has progressed, Serbia, which is our neighbour, although it is below 40 percent lined up, has not imposed sanctions on Russia or any other EU opponent, is still continuing towards membership. It seems that criteria and values do not really matter to certain member states. It doesn't mean that our patience is running, we're working, it's a long process and people are frustrated, but we don't have a different option”, Osmani said.
