Zelensky has thanked Melanie for raising awareness of at least 19,500 Ukrainian children, who his government says have been kidnapped by Russia since Ukraine's full invasion in 2022.
His comments came after Melanie sent Russian President Vladimir Putin her letter asking him to consider the children, saying that “defending the innocence of these children, you will do more than serve Russia alone to serve humanity”, the BBC writes.
Meanwhile, days ago the First Lady of the United States, Melanie Trump, has raised the issue of the plight of children in Ukraine and Russia through a personal letter sent to Russian President Vladimir Putin, two White House officials have said.
US President Donald Trump delivered the letter to Putin during the summit held on August 15th in Alaska, news agencies report. /Periscope
