US President Donald Trump had a long conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, during his flight while returning from Alaska.
Trump landed at Andrea Joint Base in Maryland shortly after 2am local US time after his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin ended, writes CNN.
The president spent most of his life flight talking on the phone, according to White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavet. After the phone call with Zelensky, Trump spoke to NATO officials, she said.
During his joint press conference with Putin, after their two and a half hours of meeting, Trump pledged to hold calls with both Zelensky and NATO officials.
I'm sure I'll call our President Zelensky and tell him about today's” meeting, Trump said during the conference.
Zelensky's office confirmed that he had spoken to Trump on Saturday morning.
