Tragic Monday, four suicide cases in Kosovo today

A hard day for Kosovo, marked by successive tragedies.

Only during August 18th 2025 were four suicide cases reported in various countries in the country. Events that have shaken public opinion and have highlighted the depth of the social and psychological crisis Kosovo society is experiencing.

The first case was reported about 15:40 in the direction of the village of Chernobyl in the municipality of Istog, where a person was found without signs of life inside a vehicle. Police spokesman for the Pec region Fadil Gashi confirmed the news. He has announced that police patrols and ambulances have emerged at the scene, while the doctor has ascertained the victim's death. The prosecution has been notified and launched investigation into the case.

The second case occurred in early morning hours in Zvecan, where around 06:30, Kosovo Police have received information about a 77-year-old who was found hanging in several metal fences near a house.

The third case was reported at around 10:10 in the village of Skowright's Lower Prekaz. Police have immediately appeared at the scene, where even the medical team has ascertained the death of a man about 65 years old. At the order of the state prosecutor, the lifeless body has been sent to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Pristina to determine the cause of death.

The fourth case was reported this morning in the city of Obilik, about 10:04, where a man about 50 years of age was found on the “Hasan Pristina” street. Police units, investigators and the QKMF doctor, who has plotted death, have appeared on the scene. Authorities have announced that investigations are under way, and more relevant units are expected to be involved for full whiteening of the case.
