US suspends trade fees to China for another 90 days

The order has come shortly after Trump has given an unofficial response to journalists, while urging Beijing to fourfold American Soysa's purchases.
The tariff truce between Beijing and Washington was expected to expire on Tuesday.
The order now prevents American tariffs of 145 percent in Chinese goods, and the establishment of 125 percent Chinese tariffs in American goods that could result in virtual trade embargo.
“We will see what will happen”, Trump said at a media conference when asked if he plans to continue the move.

Currently, imports from China are subject to 30 per cent American tariffs, including the 10 per cent base fee and the 20 per cent fee set by Washington in February and March because of the phantanoli.
China has retaliated, lowering the tax rate to 10 percent in American imports.
The two sides have agreed to suspend trade measures following talks that were held in Geneva in May, agreeing to a 90-day pause until negotiations are held.
The sides met again in Sweden in late July, but have not announced any agreements.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has said Washington is <x0-optimistic” for the road ahead. / REL
