Brammertz recently said he thinks it would be good if a woman was in the position of president soon, but the candidate list is “very short”.
In 2024, Von der Leyen was elected president of the European Commission for the second time, and her five - year term must be completed in 2029.
The German newspaper claims that Von der Leyen has already proved himself to be a politician, stressing that she was Germany's first female defence minister and the first female president of the European Commission, and that “the” of her career would be to become Germany's first female president.
Spiegel adds that nominated Von der Leyen would also prevent the worst “kener” for him, though, the nomination of former cascellari Angela Merkel for the presidential post. /Periscope/
