Following the arrest of Ana Murganic, from Northern Mitrovica, and her boyfriends, a pilot in the Croatian Army and a member of KFOR in Kosovo, Croatian state justice bodies have imposed 30 days of detention. They were arrested under suspicion of passing information to the Serbian List for developments in northern Kosovo.

However, according to Croatian media, the scandal is even bigger. In addition to revealed messages with confidential data for KFOR, other classified information has been included. The newspaper Večernji list reported that Murcanic had been part of EULEX and UNMIK, and was allegedly infiltrated by Serbian secret services to influence judgments against former KLA leaders.

Initially, the Croatian prosecution has claimed that it demanded the detention measure for Croatian citizens due to the risk of influence on witnesses and the repetition of criminal work, while for the Serbian citizen, due to the risk of escape, influence and possible repetition of the work.

The Split District Court has provided no more details except that the investigation is classified.

“According to law and the very nature of procedures, the investigation is classified, but as far as secret level is concerned, I honestly don't know. The detention for spying, namely for what the Croatian citizen is accused of, is between one and ten years in prison, while on other charges is between six months and five years”, said Neven Cambj, spokesman of the Split District Court.

The spy suspect's defense lawyer, Doris Kostunica, has declared the defendants innocent and have already filed a complaint.

They actively defended themselves. Every defendant denies the crime. I've already appealed”, said Doris Kostunica, the defender of the spying suspect.

Meanwhile, the Office of the President of the Republic of Croatia issued a statement Thursday, noting that President Zoran Milanovic was informed of the events as they developed and strongly supported the work of institutions that uncovered possible crimes.

The republic's “president was informed at the right time of the activities of competent institutions undertaken in this case and expects an effective investigation that will determine all relevant facts. Every member of the Armed Forces must carry out his military duty with honesty and legitimacy, and if any violation of the law and sworn oath is uncovered, it should be adequately punished. ”

According to the Croatian newspaper Večernji list, the pair had been arrested earlier but was released; now they were arrested again after new compromise messages were issued. FRaraniq conveyed the information to the leaders of the Serbian List, the party which has close ties with Serbia's Government.

Through what Apps, they exchanged confidential data on KFOR's movements and plans in northern Kosovo, information that Serbian authorities were particularly interested in, media reports. According to the paper, the Croatian pilot had also announced his girlfriend's involvement in developments regarding the case of Dejan Pantic, arrested earlier by Kosovo institutions.

EULEX told him RTK's through a written answer that currently, the EULEX Mission is in no position to comment on the case. The Kosovo prosecution has not responded during the day whether to co-operate with Croatian authorities or will follow any investigative track into Kosovo as well./Periscopi/
