A serious institutional clash has erupted in Montenegro between President Jakov Milatovic and Deputy Prime Minister of Economic Development Nick Gilosha.
At the centre of the debate is the return of the Law for Taxation on Realms by the president for review in Montenegro's Parliament, which, according to the president's Cabinet, has prompted a threatening response on the part of Deputy Prime Minister Geosaj.
Montenegro's president's cabinet has indicated that after the return of this law with clear reasoning and judicial argument, Minister Gilosha has sent a series of inappropriate threats and messages to President Milatovic. For this, the president's office has announced the Police Director and has asked competent institutions to react immediately, in line with the Constitution and the country's laws.
We expect the relevant institutions to react immediately, in line with their obligations under the Constitution and laws of Montenegro. We ask the prime minister to dismiss the deputy prime minister without delay. Every minute of silence at this moment is a message that threats are allowed”, said the statement of Montenegrin President Milatovic's Cabinet.
Also, according to the Cabinet, the motive for the Geoshaw reaction relates to multi-year judicial processes between the Tuzi municipality and the company “13 jul Plantase” for illegal tax calculations. As reported in the report, Gholosha then the mayor of the Tuz municipality has been responsible for actions that are already subject to the company's criminal outcry at the Special Prosecutor of State.
According to this statement by the Montenegrin president's Cabinet, the Law returned by the president was also a retroactive action that would help Tuzi's municipality close judicial processes at the expense of the company “13 jul Plantase”, legalising illegal taxes and financially damaging the company.
“Therefore, the prime minister's threats are not political issues, but the issue of freedom, security and dignity of state institutions and the post of president”, the Montenegrin president's cabinet notes, reports “Pobjeda”, RTK broadcast.
On the other hand, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Geloshaj has dismissed the charges as “grave denies”, claiming he has never threatened President Milatovic and that communication between them, which he has preserved, is clear evidence of this.
With deep indignation, I dismiss it as a grave lie the statement of the casual President James Milatovic and with full responsibility I let public opinion know that it is a great lie I have threatened him with. Messages that remain as a trace of communication are the best testimony to this”, Geosaj has declared.
He has stressed that he doubts that the random “president, as he calls it, is spreading this information to draw attention to his claim that the president had refused the law due to the resistance ties with Nebojsa Vuksanovic, with a view to personal gain for both.
I'm sending a message that, if you don't apologize, I'm going to publicly publish that all of Montenegro is dealing with what president we're dealing with:x1>, Geoshaj said.
However, President Milatovic has published to the media the content of communications with Gelosha to testify, according to him, the threatening language used to him:
Stall: You made a big mistake, using the president's position for the interests of your godfather. I don't think you should get into this case and expect an unprecedented reaction from Albanians from all levels and wherever we have influence.
Milatovic: Nick, talk to those you're used to, not me. I salute you.
Stall: Shame. Even worse with you. With your level of decisions about godly interests, that's a shame. But you will get the answer you deserve.
Milatovich: I don't know what you're talking about. What godfather? Read the legal argument.
Stall: But with these “tricks, which you're used to”...
Milatovich: Don't write me that way again./Periscopi/
