Trump will discuss this plan with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine on Monday at the White House, and there was discussion of whether other European officials would join him, writes. NYT.
After his meeting with Putin, Trump has given up his request for an immediate ceasefire and believes a quick peace treaty can be negotiated, as long as Zelensky agrees to release the rest of the Donbas region of Russia, even those areas that are not occupied by Russian troops, sends the telegraph.
Zelensky and European leaders have strongly opposed such land issue, which also contains important protective lines and is rich in minerals.
Ukrainian officials have said that a final agreement could not include Kiev agreeing to permanently abandon any Ukrainian sovereign territory, which would violate the Ukrainian Constitution.
In exchange, Putin offered a ceasefire in the rest of Ukraine on current battle lines and a written promise not to attack Ukraine or any European country again.
