Speaking a week before the deadline expired set by US President Donald Trump for Russia to accept a ceasefire in Ukraine or face new sanctions, including on states buying Russian energy, Putin has given no sign of any change in Moscow's stance, Reuters reports.
He has said that if someone is disappointed by the results of peace talks so far, it is the result of great expectations.
Putin has added that Russian forces are attacking Ukraine across the front and that the dynamic is in their favour, citing the Russian Defence Ministry's announcement Thursday that Moscow forces had invaded the Ukrainian town of Chasiv Yar after a 16-month battle.
The official Kiev denied that Chasiv Yar is under full control of Russia.
