Russia's President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Anchorage, Alaska, according to Russian state media.
The visit marks the launch of an important meeting between him and US President Donald Trump, at a time when global tensions and international security issues are at the centre of attention.
The meeting in Alaska is expected to focus mainly on the issue of Ukraine, bilateral relations and economic co-operation between the two countries.
Part of the discussions are expected to be other issues of regional and global importance.
Meetings between the two leaders are often attended with high international interest, especially the fact that they often hold behind closed doors and without full transparency for the public.
This time around, however, the format of talks has expanded, including senior officials on both sides.
